Sponsor (Cup For Cup)

Ocaquatics is a Certified B Corporation and an employee-owned network of swim schools. Since 1994, no one has taught more children to swim in Miami than Ocaquatics Swim School. As a component of its’ 1% for the Planet commitment, Ocaquatics replenishes all of the water used by its Tropical location (Tropical School) by ensuring that an equivalent amount of safe water is purified Cup for Cup.

To replenish this water, Ocaquatics partners with the Safe Water Social Venture (SWSV) foundation, that was founded by (fellow employee-owned Certified B Corp and 1% member) Enviro-Stewards Inc.  SWSV is focused on helping rural poor families gain access to safe water as they typically earn <$3/day, lack access to electricity & piped water, and are 8 times less likely to have access to safe water than their urban counterparts.

In practice, Ocaquatics has helped 10 families purchase locally constructed water purifiers for their homes.  Over the 25-year lifespan of these water purifiers, they will purify more water than Ocaquatics’ Tropical location uses for an entire year.  Local market assessments indicate that these families will save about $40/yr in treatment costs for water related illnesses.
